Vibrant Tel Aviv: 8 tips!

Posted on April 9, 2023

Tel Aviv is one of the most vibrant cities in Israel and is famous for its beaches, culture and nightlife. The perfect combination and that’s why Iris visited Tel Aviv in 2019. Before you go, check the travel advice your country issues for Israel and Tel Aviv. In this blog Bustling Tel Aviv: 8 tips!

Transport & accommodation

You can regularly find great deals on Transavia flights to Tel Aviv! So keep an eye on the website. In Tel Aviv, we stayed at The Spot Hostel. A cosy hostel in the north of the city, close to the old port and the bigger beach clubs. Big advantage every morning you can take advantage of a delicious breakfast including shakshuka.

Tel Aviv’s beaches

Iris visited Tel Aviv in October. A perfect time to escape Dutch autumn for a while. With a coastline of 14 kilometres, Tel Aviv offers beautiful beaches. Think about Hilton Beach or Gordon Beach, for example! The nice thing about the beaches is that the locals actually visit the beach themselves, creating a friendly local atmosphere.

The beautiful architecture

Tel Aviv is also known for its architecture and Bauhaus style, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city has more than 4,000 Bauhaus buildings, known for their clean lines and functionality. The best way to explore this architecture is to take a walking or cycling tour through the streets of the White City district and visit Rothschild.

Jaffa

Jaffa used to be an old port city but is now part of Tel Aviv. From our hostel in the north of the city, we rented a bike and cycled down the promenade and beach to Jaffa. In this part of town, you will find beautiful historical buildings such as the Jaffa Clock Tower that offers great views over the city and beaches. Do you love second-hand markets? Then the Jaffa Flea Market is one for your list. My favourite spot, however, was the port where you can enjoy the bustling atmosphere.

Street art

You will find beautiful street art throughout Tel Aviv! We grabbed our rental bike and checked the most beautiful murals using one of the many street art guides that you can find online, such as this one .

Vibrant Tel Aviv: Eating Out & Going Out in Tel Aviv

Fresh spicy food and great open-air clubs! Two ingredients that Tel Aviv certainly contains! It's been a while since I visited Tel Aviv, so I don't have any ready-made first-hand tips for you, but immerse yourself in Middle Eastern cuisine and then dance off the calories in one of the great open-air clubs on the beach!

Day trip: Jerusalem

From Tel Aviv it is about an hour's drive to Jerusalem. There are various providers for a trip. View and compare what is most practical for you on a website such as Get Your Guide . A day trip to Jerusalem is definitely recommended, there are few cities on earth that cannot be compared and in my opinion Jerusalem is one of them. Depending on the tour you book, you can see the Wailing Wall, the Temple Mount, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Mount of Olives in the city. In addition, the streets in the Old City of Jerusalem are also very special and very colorful.

Floating in the Dead Sea

Another popular day trip from Tel Aviv is a visit to the Dead Sea. We combined our trip to Jerusalem with a visit to the Dead Sea. A unique experience, it is really impossible to sink. Add a wellness experience of your own making by applying mud that is good for your skin before you go into the sea! Oh and a tip don't rub your face with your hands, it stings! 😊
