After a busy year, it was time to unwind completely. That's why we chose Boa Vista, Cape Verde! With sun-drenched beaches, a relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking nature, this is the perfect destination to recharge your batteries.

Accommodation

We stayed at Riu Karamboa, a beautiful adults-only resort with seven restaurants (all allergy-friendly!), multiple pools with slides (yes for adults ;-)) , a spa, gym and art club. Everything you need for a relaxing vacation!

Exploring

Although we came primarily to relax, we also wanted to see some of the island. So we booked an excursion with Kapverden Tours through Get Your Guide. We visited Santa Monica Beach, a vast white sand beach where you are almost alone, and the impressive Varandinha Cave. Then we headed into the desert to admire the spectacular sand dunes. Along the way we even spotted sea turtles and the rare Red-billed Tropicbird. A magnificent specimen!

Roadtrip at Boa Vista

We rented a car to explore Sal Rei and Rabil. Sal Rei is an attractive town with colorful houses and a relaxed atmosphere. Rabil is best known for its traditional pottery workshops. But fair is fair: driving on Boa Vista is pretty limited. There are only a few roads, and many places can only be reached with a guide or a 4x4. The island is actually best experienced at a leisurely pace, just as the motto here is: no stress!

Does Boa Vista come highly recommended?

Definitely! If you are looking for adventure and lots of sightseeing, other destinations might be more suitable. But if you want a relaxing vacation, with beautiful beaches and a wonderful climate, Boa Vista is perfect
